The Marathon was runnin’

The city’s on a high and everyone keeps comin’

Cheering in the cold, but what is cold when you are huggin’

Everybody knows the City’s getting’ some lovin’



We would walk 66th street

Your hand was in my back pant pocket… a real treat

Corduroys the day and everyone was "Rocker"

I love it when you say you "love me"

Like it’s a shocker



We are finally

A chapter in some New York story

That has been in my mind for a long, long time

Feels like this city’s yours and mine



There is a saying they say sometimes

"You life is just a day"

and, if that’s so, they must have dreamt mine.

I’m holding out my hand.

You take my hand for the taking.

I even made you laugh at all those bad jokes I was making.

I swear let this day keep coming true.

I’m falling in love along First Avenue.

It’s never been me, but babe I think I’ve arrived

I need you with me to make my city alive.
